Madonna – The Style Book

My edition dates from 1999 and includes references to “Ray Of Light”. In amongst its pages I found a cutting – from Axiom Magazine, - “How to be Madonna”. I seized on the book for the make-up tips which are minimal but found that to inspect Madonna in her salad days was still, in that period, a way of saying important things about style, culture and history. It reads well. So much has happened since. She was so fucking individualistic for so long – wasn’t it too much to expect her to keep it up decade after decade? The media did anyway until other post-post-modern icons appeared on the scene. Now where are we? Don’t ask me, and probably don’t ask Madonna.
