"Binary and Beyond"

The first of two special programmes. When I first heard them I thought they suffered from the old problem which afflicts a lot of arts programming - the tendency to assume that we all are experienced in talking about art, that we are all familiar with opera, galleries and classic books. Not that I wouldn't be glad if we all were, but even if you are you can get lost in all these references. Re-listening I'm not so critical, mainly because they're awash with genuine curiosity, discovery and interest and even some humour. Because real people create art. What they are is about art and artifice rather than gender-physicalities. Oddly the discussions have moved on since 2018, the debates about trans are cresting elsewhere and we may well not produce such programmes again.
