This is what the soft offensive on trans-matters looks like. It parallels what the hard, overtly-prejudiced offensive is doing. Both shout through the media megaphone about protecting children and freedom of speech without entertaining any nuance of appreciation of the actual sensitivities and experiences involved. The megaphone is meanwhile on full volume. "Year Zero" is a Substack blog and it veers consistently to the right on gender matters. It's more of a challenge to confront "reasonable" gender-dissenting journalism than it is overt prejudice, but both thrive on defensive ignorance and populist opinionating.
