Shenzhen was the reason I went to the Pearl River Delta - the prospect of a city built in the near-present for the future, an entirely post-modern, post-history place. And so it was, but with its roots actually in the Old Chinese City. At the same time I had during this period a big pre-occupation with Gardens.
