Mehmet Murat Somer

Mehmet Murat Somer is a Turkish writer whose Hop-Ciki-Yaya detective novels have a trans main character. For a while they came out regularly in Penguin Books and I read three of them, but they didn't seem to catch on so, they're now hard to find. You may come across some in your library - there are currently six in the series which seems to have stopped in 2014, and now Serpent's Tail is the publisher. I liked them a lot but I would do, since they capture many of the complications of the trans life quite cutely, in my favourite fiction genre, the detective novel. Let's face it - there was always going to be a trans detective some day.
